We have found that our 9th grade English students have little grasp of
history or important people who have made a difference (both positive
and negative). They know pop singers, Brad Pitt, Christopher Columbus,
Martin Luther King, George Washington and maybe Thomas Jefferson to name
a few. A new teacher wants to do a research project with them that
opens their eyes to a little more than a pop idol or someone they have
already studied a lot. She really prefers this to be a "worldwide"
project----people of importance throughout history from around the
world. I would love to get names of people from you. If you can name 5
people that you think have had great influence, we will compile a list
and share it with you.
Thanks.
