I'm interested in hearing about your personal successes and failures
with using School Library 2.0 technologies with your students,
faculty, and parents particularly at the elementary level. What are
your biggest concerns and obstacles? What is your goal?
For example,
Uses: I am using a wiki as we tackle our SACS re-accreditation. I
have used FLICKR with my annual committee as we sort through things
in a private mode. I have taught teachers who are doing additional
coursework how to use RSS feeds to stay current. I've seen Knox
County schools in Tennessee produce podcasts with technology help. We
are beginning a blog to keep current information on top for parents
in an easier manner than our web page. I have blogged and stayed
current with other's blogs via bloglines. We will air our VSBA book
discussion blog in November while we ramp up to discuss the books on
our state award list. The asst. principal and I are exploring how we
can create dynamic newsletters similar to Grandview Elementary
schools http://www.grandviewlibrary.org/Fold/GrandviewNews.aspx
Concerns: safety, time, buy-in, equipment. Obstacles: administrative
blocks at the district level, time for targeted training, lack of
vision and purpose.
