[LM_NET] Book Series title needed

A teacher at my school is trying to remember a series she read as a child, probably 
in the 1950s.  It had a family of birds as the main characters and the birds taught 
morals/lessons in the stories.  One might be about politeness, or helpfulness, etc. 
 Does this ring any bells for anyone?  Thanks for your help!
