Dear Trish:
How about versions of folktales, including modern humorous ones like The
Frog Prince Continued? My second graders enjoy comparing them and
talking about what's the same and different, and folktales are useable
with a wide range of ages. There are a lot of lesson plans available on
the Internet, too. Look up something like "folktales and versions" or
"fractured folktales".
