Greetings,
I am going to be giving a presentation in August on titles, authors, strategies and
practices for promoting reading to boys. I will be focusing on boys 3rd through
5th grade, but I want to be able to include some information for older and younger
boys as well.
I am trying to survey as many librarians as possible to gather information to
present. If you wouldn't mind, please take a few minutes to answer the three
questions below. I will post a hit here on the list with the responses I gather,
and I will do my best to give credit in my presentation. I will also post the
materials/handouts for the presentation when they are finished. The questions are:
What strategies or suggestions have you used successfully to promote reading for
boys?
What authors or titles do you recommend for boys?
What non-fiction subject areas do you believe are most popular with boys?
Please send responses to: jwallen@okcps.org
I appreciate your time.
