Congrats and good luck! You have the best job ever. There are several books that
I would highly recommend, two of which are.

Hughes-Hassell, Sandra and Jacqueline C. Mancall. Collection Management for Youth:
Responding to the Needs of Learners. Chicago: American Library Association, 2005.

Simpson, Carol. Copyright For Schools: A Practical Guide. Worthington, OH:
Linworth Books, 2005.

Subject: Target:Materials for a New Librarian.

Hello all,

Well, I got a job! I just accepted a job as a High School Librarian. I
have been an elementary school teacher for the past 15 years and just graduated
this past June with my MLS. I am extremely excited. My question to you is
what materials do you believe I should invest in to run a successful High
School Library. I kept my AACRII from library school cause no one would buy it
from me. I also have Information power. Are there any other materials that
you believe I should have. The school has not had a librarian for at least
three years. The collection is sparse and they are not yet automated.
They are very open to a successful library program. I am both excited and
terrified. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.
