Thanks to everyone for advice about cable vs. dish/cell vs. land line.
My responses were about 50/50 balanced about cable vs. dish, and DSL vis
cable. I think both choices have good and bad features. I went with
cable and so far love the TV but do not like the computer. The reason I
do not like the computer is that with Cox, my supplier, you have to buy
a router as well as modem, and if you run the modem and TV off the same
drop with a splitter, you may have connection problems with my modem. I
don't mind the idea of the router except that it is one more gizmo in my
life. But I will probably go ahead with it anyway. Connection is very fast.
Now to my request. My daughter is an aspiring singer/songwriter. Her web
page is http://www.emilyherring.net
If you like traditional country with a bit of activism mixed in with a
bit of jazz and Tejano as well, you might like her. She wants to play in
an upcoming event in her hometown, Portland Oregon. It is one of those
things where you go online and vote for your choice. If anyone is so
inclined, I would love for her to get some votes at this website:

Where it says Band, just type in her name, Emily Herring...don't worry
about the blank for type of music.
I say it all the time, but you guys are great!--Mary Ann
