I am a new librarian in a K-12 school; in addition, I am the junior class sponsor.
Next week is homecoming week and Friday the whole school is dismissed for the 1:00
homecoming parade. This coincides with the first grade library visit. I got an
e-mail this afternoon asking if I can reschedule the fixed schedule class for
another time during the day. Two morning class periods the juniors are finishing
their decorations, one period I teach a library research skills class, which leaves
one morning period for planning, shelving, reading shelves, etc. My dilemma, when
other activities occur during a class's scheduled library visit, should I take my
only work time of the day to substitute their library visit? I did suggest the
teacher bring the students to the library during that period to exchange their
books. Thanks in advance,
