[LM_NET] ELEM: need book idea

I have a request from a parent for a birthday book for her first grade 
daughter. She would like it to have a strong character (either female or male) who 
faces a challenge and handles it successfully. It would have to be a relatively 
new book (something we don't already have) and be a picture book. I have 
tried several searches without any success. Any suggestions would be most 
appreciated.
