If you teach middle school in either Flint or Grand Rapids, Michigan, I would like
to ask for some help.
As an acitvity related to reading Bud, not Buddy, our seventh grade students are
researching a number of topics on the '30's, and are also researching those two
cities. As you can imagine, we have had a hard time finding a lot of good,
substantive info on the cities aside from short encyclopedia articles, brief
histories and, for Flint, the auto strike of that period.
My request for next year - would you be willing to have our students write to you
or your students to ask for information about those cities? Only 5 students would
be researching each topic. It would bring a nice, personal touch to the research.
Also, if you know of any good in-print books about either of those cities, covering
either/or the depression era and today, that would be very helpful too.
If you would like to help, please write so that I can file away names and e-mail
addresses in preparation for next year's research group.
Thanks,
Susan
