Well I've been reading this discussion and can't take it anymore. I worked
for years in a wonderful independent bookstore. Our books were shelved in
alphabetical order by the authors last name. Hardback and paperback fiction
were in different sections. Nonfiction books were by subject, gardening,
cooking, pets .... Children's books were done the same way. I could easily
find anything as long as a customer hadn't moved it.To this day I hate
trying to find a book in a chain bookstore. I just call my local bookstore
where I used to work and they will order anything as long as they can find
it. Teachers get a 20 percent discount on books for their classrooms.
Working there helped me to decide to be a librarian.
Support you independent bookstores!!!!
