My daughter's name, Laurie, was chosen because in my early teens I had a
crush on the Laurie (aka Teddy Lawrence) who was in love with Jo in Little
Women by Louisa May Alcott. Laurie ended up marrying Amy in the book - I never
could figure out how Jo could have refused him! It didn't matter that Laurie
was a male, I fell in love with the name. (Am I dating myself??? I couldn't
get my daughter even remotely interested in the Louisa May Alcott books even
though she was and is a voracious reader.)
