Barbara Braxton shared some great ideas-I love her use of the phrase "select a
series". We've done series shelving at our middle school, too. I believe we
need to think more and more like a book store and do what we can to market books
and make them appealing to kids. I would guess that many of us who are media
specialists today got hooked on reading with series books!
We also post lists of series books in places where kids will see them since they
are always asking for them.
Tubs of books are great. We use them for drawing books and back issues of browsing
magazines. We keep the bins on the floor; that sees to appeal to kids, too.
