Thanks to all of you who responded...here are the responses for those of you who
asked.....
You would probably have to contact an independent bookbinder to build a
clamshell box for it. Depending on the amount of damage, they could
also do some restorative work (mending pages, and rebinding it) as
well. Try your yellow pages for more information. But be sure to get
estimates, because like anything else, each person will have a
different evaluation of what it needs and some of those options might
not be what you have in mind for it. :)
I know of a bindery in WV that specializes in old bibles.

I apprenticed for awhile with a book restorer/binder. My advice is to take it to a
professional if you want it done correctly. There's ALOT involved with the
restoration process including using specialized tools and paper and glues. We saw
many books which had been 'repaired' by
well meaning family members. Some were fixable and some were not. It's worth the
money! Good luck!
Depending on the Bible, you could send it to the publisher. If it
happens to be a Cambridge Bible, they will rebind the work as part of the
guarantee all Cambridge bibles carry. Otherwise, you would want to seek
out a book restorationist because something like this bible is a very
important document, legally as well as sentimentally. Some geneologists
would shoot you to get a treasure like that.
Take care,
NARA (the National Archives) might give you some helpful hints.

http://www.si.edu/Since I lived in DC for 20 years, I used these government
resources. They are very helpful there but might take a while to answer.
I would call Houchen Bindery's Restoration department. They are
fabulous! http://www.houchenbindery.com/
See the SOLINET brochure, Preserving your family
treasures,

great resource in your area.
