I've been dubious about the value of all-depressing-titles lists ever since
a friend of my older daughter (years ago) in 9th grade was having a bad week
(girl trouble and a fight with his parents that ended in his truck being
confiscated) while at the same time his English class was reading Romeo &
Juliet and another class had the kids writing their own obituaries. Kevin
killed himself. The next day, a girl killed herself also. It was a horrible
week, and I've always wondered how much the choice of assignments had to do
with their decisions.
