I am known for carrying my Nancy Pearl doll wherever I go and taking
pictures. Sadly I am not as good at posting them. I do have a few posted
at this URL, which show her early days in Texas a couple of years ago.
She loved the spring wildflowers:

And a few more here:

And I just now made an addition, with pictures from a travel study trip
to Washington DC:

Irritatingly, the ppts do not work with Netscape but of course are fine
with Explorer. Next I will try to post Nancy's exploits in New York,
where we went after leaving DC. I have to share a bit more in detail the
big event of Nancy's stage debut. We went to "Shear Madness" at Kennedy
Center. Anyone who has seen this play will recall that the audience
visits with the characters during intermission, and then votes on an
ending for the murder mystery. My students talked the actors into
working Nancy into the play, which meant they had to plan for 4
different scenarios. During the second act, Nancy got mentioned once and
actually was produced onstage once, as described in the powerpoint. I
was completely fooled and thrilled and got out MY Nancy (the students
used another one) and started waving her around. I did not figure out it
was a set-up until the end of the play when one student retrieved her doll.

Next Nancy and I are headed for Portland Oregon to visit my daughter.
Needless to say, Nancy loves it when I take her to the West Coast. Other
adventures she has had include
1. Visiting London
2. Diving into Regent's Canal in London
3. Visiting San Francisco and Monterey CA
4. Crossing the Rio Grande into Mexico (I held on to her to keep her
from diving there)
5. Relaxing in the Texas Hill Country including a closely supervised dip
in the Blanco River
6. Hanging out in Luckenbach
7. Several trips to Portland--of course she loves Powell's books and the
Beverly Cleary statues there.
8. Visiting New York this summer with the travel group.
As I said, I hope to get more pictures posted as time permits...she is a
great traveling companion!
