Thank you to the person who sent me the links to the articles about 9th
grade issues from Ebsco. Unfortunately I need a login to see the whole
article and as the users of the website won't have this either I can't use
the link. However I was fascinated by the abstract about how there is a
bottleneck in 9th grade because of "poor" test scores. It reminded me of
several stories I have read set in rural past times where there was always a
14 year old boy who was still in Grade 6 because he couldn't graduate
because of his academic inability. IS this a 21st century parallel?
