There should be a way to block that site - but your tech person might =
not
want to start doing that as it can become quite a hassle. Our tech (for =
the
Diocese) has blocked a number of sites, but at our school, we discourage =
the
use of Cliff Notes, and teachers try to assign work that requires the
student to really read the work.=20
If you don't want them used at school, it will take monitoring of =
computer
use which, of course, means more work. I check what they are on, but if =
they
are on something like Cliff Notes, I usually tell them to leave the site =
and
read the book.=20

Subject: SEC: Blocking legitimate websites
Hi,
Has anyone ever been asked to have their library's computers have =
blocked
access to sites such as www.CliffNotes.com? I've been asked by one of =
our
English teachers but our Tech coordinator said that he wouldn't do it =
since
it is a legitimate site (i.e. it's not porn or games, etc.). Obviously =
the
kids can access sites like CLIFFNOTES .com at home and elsewhere but I
didn't think it was an unreasonable request by the teacher since we
certainly don't condone the use of them and really don't want them used =
at
school.
I'd appreciate hearing other's thoughts.
Thanks!
