Greetings, fellow school librarians!
I am curious to hear what library automation software you are using and
what features you do/do not like?
I am opening a new school library media center in fall 2004. The library
will serve 65 students in 7 classes. The students are ages 5-12, all with
emotional troubles and most with learning difficulties. Our total number
of titles will probably never exceed 5000. (2500 is an early estimate
over the next 2-3 years.)
I am hoping to find a system that allows visual searching. So far I have
received demos of Athena and from Concourse. I like both. However, I need
to make a cost-effective decision!
ResourceMate seemed too basic. A LibrarySoft demo did not work properly.
I am waiting to hear from a couple other vendors with demos including
Mandarin, Softlink Alice, and Alexandria.
If you have experience with any of these systems, I would appreciate
hearing your comments!
Thanks!
