Good Morning All,
I opened the local newspaper today to find a story about a
group of 20 local middle school parents in Washington Township, NJ who have
started a nonprofit group called National Concerned Citizens for Youth. The
group plans to campaign nationwide for restricted access by minors to "satanic"
material in school libraries and bookstores. The leaders of the group are
concerned because they feel that the books, "The Devil's Storybook" and
"The Devil: Great Mysteries, Opposing Viewpoints," have some value, but they
don't want elementary and middle-schoolers having access to them. Why? Because
they contend that one of their sons, a 14 year old middle schooler, was led down
the path to satanism and self-mutilation after reading these
books.
The local district has promised to look into the matter
but did not immediately remove the books from the shelves.
