I had asked about the books from LiteracyEmpowerment.org
http://www.colorcodedbooks.org/lef/index.html
I had many requests for a hit on this topic but got just this one
response:
I ordered the books for the first time last year. They are okay, but
not great. I gave them away as part of a kick off to summer reading
program. At the kindergarten level I would order up one grade level.
I was glad that I ordered extra because some of the titles were quite
old. The one I remember was 'Pele' and what student knows who that
was. There was a good combination of fiction and nonfiction. It is an
easy way to order by grade level without having to spend a lot of time
with selection. If you are looking for free books to give to students
and not concerned about quality literature it was worth the price.
