Circulating Magazines

    For most of the magazines that circulate to students, we use clear
plastic magazine covers - the cheapest we can get from Highsmith.  The
magazine slides through a center strap and the front and back  covers slip
into pockets on each side.  We put a magazine title and barcode on a card
inside a clear pocket.  We don't need as many covers as we have cards,
because we can move the cards around - from magazine to magazine as needed.
We don't know which issue of a magazine the student checked out, but we do
know its title.
    For profesisonal magazines, we reuse barcodes that we pull off withdrawn
books and equipment.  Some barcodes have been recycled three or four times
that way.
