mid: book club

I am starting a book club with 7th & 8th graders.  Our first group will =
be lower readers that may need some extra help and practice.  I need =
some ideas for some easier books that will be of interest to mostly boys =
but also girls.  I already have Holes, The Cay, Freak the Mighty.  =
Tangerine and Tomorrow When the War Began are also possiblities but may =
be too much for this first group.  I was also thinking Among the Hidden. =
 Does anyone have any other good suggestions for me?
