GEN: News Stories for a Particular Date

I am trying to help a teacher whose students must find
news events that happened on the day they were born.
These are high school seniors so the stories must be
from 1984 or 1985.  I have tried databases, the
Internet Public Library, and general searches but I
need an actual news story for the date, preferably at
no cost. Has anyone found sites that have these?
