TECH: Mailing labels/mail merge

Can anyone tell me where I can go to get help with a very specific problem using an 
MS Excel (XP version) address list and MS Word (XP version) as the merge document 
to create mailing labels? Or maybe someone knows the solution to my problem(s).

Here's the deal:
I have a list of 1096 names and addresses in Excel. When I merge it into Word to 
create mailing labels, Word only brings in 974 of them. I have had this happen at 
school using the XP version on a Windows 98 machine and at home using the XP 
version on a Windows XP machine. I have no idea why this happens. YET, I can take 
the same Excel list, bring it up on my Windows 95 machine using Excel 2000 and Word 
2000 and print out all 1096 labels with no problem. I print these labels monthly as 
my contribution to our local Friends of the Public Library organization. Since I am 
giving my older computer to my daughter, I really need to solve this!

A smaller problem is that the zip codes that begin with zero (as in 02420 for a 
Massachusettes address) lose the leading zero (showing up as 2420) in the XP 
version. Luckily I only have six such zip codes. I have double-checked that I 
formatted the cell for zip codes, so that isn't the problem. They keep the leading 
zero using the 2000 versions.
