That post about membership fees for other professions got me wondering.
Other Professional Organizations' Membership Fees:

National Assoc. of Social Workers (pay scales are fairly on a par with
librarians)
$173 for MSW & PhD levels
$114 for BSW level
$44 for student

American Bar Assoc.
Less than one year ................................ FREE    FREE
1-5 years ..............................................    $110.00 $82.50
6-9 years ..............................................    $225.00 $168.75
10 years or more ...................................    $350.00 $262.50

AMA
the regular fee for physicians is $420, which is discounted for the first &
second years of practice ($210 & $315, respectively).
