Dear Folks,
Just warning you that I am grouchy today! Too much to do before school
starts and not enough of a break...anyway, can someone explain to me why
ALA cannot have sliding scale membership dues in line with a library
budget? My budget got cut from $1500.oo per year K-8 to $1,000.00...$140
for dues (which is basic ALA and AASL) is a chunk of my budget!) seems alot.
I wouldn't mind if I was making this great salary, but I am not and it
seems to penalize those school media specialist in low income schools. I
will join regardless, but it does hurt and sometime I don't know what I get
in return ( I know that I am supporting the profession...), as I cannot
afford much of anything they offer from professional publications to cute
stuff to buy for the media center...
