[LM_NET] TAR: HS critical thinking/writing topic ideas

Just had a teacher request some "different" ideas for 3 page writing 
assignment and wondered if some of you might share some ideas of what 
you use with freshmen and sophomores in your schools.  He wants them to 
do some research then draw some conclusions....hopefully not "copy and 
paste".  I'll be happy to post a hit if you'll share some ideas!  TIA
