Tech: Running Java

Perhaps someone with more experience than I can help me with this....
I have a Power Mac 5260/120 20 RAM
Problem: When I receive a greeting card from someone, the card comes up, my
screen says starting Java and the black/white ball starts to rotate. (takes a
long time..sometimes it even stops) Meanwhile I can't do a thing. It's like
everything freezes. Nothing happens. I"ve waited 30 min. I have to reboot to
start up again. I am running Netscape 4.03   Solutions??? What's happening. TIA
