Our 7th grade English teacher is thinking about replacing My Antonia and
Nisei Daughter as classroom novels. We always have several girls who find
them too difficult, even with extra help, and others don't
find them "compelling." We will continue to use To Kill a Mockingbird,
The Last Silk Dress, and The Outsiders. What we'd like are suggestions of
titles, perhaps *new.* for books that can tie in with American history
and/or have a multicultural emphasis. We've been through America as
Story, and nothing seemed quite right. If you have something that is
special, please share. TIA
