MS: Contemporary Novels for 8th grade

I was so excited to read the comments written about HOLES and shared them with
our 8th grade teachers.  We got the book and loved it!!!  Then it turns out
the 6th grade teachers had already used the book as a read-aloud.

What contemporary novels are you using as class sets for eighth graders?

How do you handle books that are good for a certain grade level and keep them
from  being used by another grade level in your building/district?  Any
organizational structure that you might suggest?
