Hi, all ... here is some information on a writers conference coming up on
Saturday, May 15, in Oakland, California. I attended last year's
conference, and it was terrific! If you enjoy mysteries, like to spend time
with writers and readers, and have a chance to attend, I would urge you to
consider doing so. The conference is, as yet, "undiscovered," so it is
low-key and friendly. The authors' books will be for sale at the site, and
there is plenty of opportunity to get autographs and meet the writers (some
of the nicest people I have ever met!). EVERYONE is welcome and EVERYONE
who enjoys good writing and wants to better understand how writers do what
they do will enjoy this conference.
I might add that the vitality the mystery genre in the African-American
community is just plain dazzling -- something that librarians and teachers
will enjoy, especially those who like a good mystery.
If you are in the Sacramento area and are interested in bus transportation
to and from the conference, e-mail me for information. A limited number of
seats will be available on a small charter bus, at $30 per person. Terris
McMahan Grimes will be on the bus -- among other great local writers.
If you are going to attend the conference, I highly recommend that you pay
the extra $10 for the box lunch when you register.
