Dear LM_NET Colleagues,
Why your messages may not be posted to LM_NET
It is actually quite a simple matter. Here is the message that we send to
those who do not include appropriate ID in the body of their postings:
Your message was forwarded to me as part of an automated system managed
by Listserv. I am unable to forward it for posting to the group until you
have a complete set of identification. Please resubmit in the normal
manner with complete identification (see below).
LM_NET has moved to a policy of required identification within all
messages posted to LM_NET. Please start the habit of including
identification in all messages posted to LM_NET. You should be sure to
include your:
1. Name 2. Occupation/Job Title/Worksite 3. e-mail address
Example:
Jo Booksworth, Librarian
Best Elementary, Bestville, CA
JBOOKSWORTH@BEST.K12.CA.US
Reasons (in addition to common courtesy):
The number of unsigned messages has been growing, and many appear to be
unrelated to the purposes of LM_NET.
The address at the top of the header doesn't identify if the person is
supposed to be on LM_NET (i.e., school librarian or related type). If a
person does not belong on LM_NET, and posts inappropriate questions, it
gives us a way to know if we should filter them out.
Also, due to characteristics of their e-mail software, many people don't
see the person's return address in their e-mail header, so they must
unnecessarily reply to the entire group.
With 10,000+ members, and 70+ messages a day being posted, we don't want
to have many inappropriate messages posted, especially from those who are
not in our intended audience.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
