Several asked for a hit so here is what I learned.
Personally, I found Front Page confusing to use. Many of the upper
end word processors and graphics programs have web page features. I
currently use Page Composer within Netscape Communicator but have
never used it with students.
Hi Wanda,
I have been thinking about this issue at my school too. From my experience
from
investigating the programs that you have mentioned I would have the
students use
frontpage. I find it very user friendly and powerful. We do not have access
to it
yet on all computers so I am going to have students use microsoft Word97.
The web
page authoring abilities are quite easy to use. I have used composer of the
navigator suite to make our school web page. http://www3.sympatico.ca/ferndale
We also have access to Claris homepage. It is OK but I have chosen word 97
over
it. I may use some of the backgrounds and clipart from homepage though.
We do have access to hperstudio but we tend to use the microsoft programs i.e.
powerpoint and word.
Pat
We're using MS Publisher and just are getting started on a student
generated online publication. We will have pictures from our new digital
camera added next week. MS Publisher is very easy. Check us out (the kids
love to get feedback with our e mail link). We are at
www.peninsula.wednet.edu
then go to What's new: We are called "KidSpeak @ Artondale"
WE use Netscape Communicator -- almost foolproof -- pretty easy, our 8th
and 9th grade students use it well. Have done lots of hyperstudio, but it
takes an additional step
>Frontpage. It is a webpage program.
>Netscape is a browser. Hyperstudio is a multimedia program.
>You're mixing apples and oranges.
>We use Claris Homepage here.
