Hello Colleagues,
I am in a middle school, and am currently teaching 6th grade students. I am going
to be discussing with the students the different books they use to do research. So
far, I am going to be discussing almanacs, atlases, encyclopedias, dictionaries,
thesaurus, non fiction books and fiction books. I am going to be giving the
definition of each book, what they are used for, and examples of what can be found
in the book. I am even thinking of distinguishing between the dictionary and
thesaurus and between an almanac and encyclopedia.
I am curious as to what everyone uses when they teach these resources. Do you have
a chart or a worksheet that you pass out to the students to help them see the
differences of each book? Or is there a web link that I can use to guide students?
Please respond to me personally, and if there is enough interest, I can post a
hit.. Thanks for you help!
