[LM_NET] Looking for Book - Samurai

Good afternoon,

I have a student looking for the following book that she read in Middle School:

About a girl who is running from people that killed her family in Japan or China.  
Moves to America & learns how to get a job & a place to stay.  While there, the 
people follow her to America.  She falls in love....

She thought Samurai was in the title, but I can't seem to find anything to fit the 
description.

Any ideas as to the title?
