Thanks to everyone for their overwhelming response!  I knew you'd know the title 
(and now I'm feeling a little sheepish for not knowing myself.  And even worse that 
our library doesn't have it.  GASP!)

One of my students is trying to remember the title of the following book.  She 
remembers reading it in 3rd grade.  Can you help us out?  She dictated to me what 
she remembers about the book.....

It's about a girl who had to go to a new planet in a very small spacecraft with 
everyone from her home planet.  She could only bring one pair of clothes and one 
book.  The book she brought had blank pages.  The people didn't know where they 
were going, so they landed on a red planet.  They needed warmth but had nothing to 
burn.  They thought about burning her book but she said not to, because she had 
written about the journey in the book.
