Not a tax specialist but as a reviewer, I do not declare the retail value of review
copies as income therefore I can not declare the donations to my library and
others as a deduction. I do however include an estimate of my donations as part of
my end of the year job review as it is indeed a benefit that my employer receives
from my employment.

Hi!
I write book reviews for a number of different organizations during my personal
time. In exchange for the reviews, I get to keep the books. I then donate the
books - usually to my school. Can I use the value of these books as a tax
deduction on my personal taxes? The value is fairly substantial this year.
