ORIGINAL TARGET
If you had a class doing a research project on domestic cats (breeds,
physical characteristics, behavior, family and young, history and
mythology) which nonfiction books, reference sources, and online
sites do you like BEST? I want to make sure I haven't left anything
off my list!
P.S. Don't worry! The essential question here requires critical
thinking. This is just the background research :>
RESPONSES
One of my favorites is Feline Reactions To Bearded Men. Not exactly
ABOUT cats, but fun nevertheless.

I think it's the Cat Fanciers Association website? Not sure about
the url's....they do breed descriptions, etc.
***
look for books from the publisher Barrons. I have always had great
luck with this publisher for any animal books I need.
***
Some choices for Cat research might be:
Online
National Geographic, they have a section on domestic cats
The World Almanac Online has quite a bit of info. on domestic cats,
med.- difficult level of reading
Cat Fanciers has a web site that is good for different breeds of
domestic cats but not much on cats or cat history or care

Books
Everything Cat;What Kids Really Want to Know About Cats by Marty Crisp
Sort of a Q and A about cats, kid friendly
Benchmark books publishes the Perfect Pet series and one is called, Cats
by Kathryn Hinds, a little history, section on domestic and the rest
is sort of why they make a good pet. Kids use this for their feature
article in 5th grade.
Cats Rebecca Stefoff in the Benchmark series AnimalWays is the most
fact filled book on Cats, Excellent. I love this series. Med to
difficult to read
Caring for your Cat by Susan Ring all around easy book on all aspects
of raising a cat
How to Talk to Your Cat by Jean Craighead George is wonderful. A little
on the history of domestic cats and then in q and a format cat behavior.
Great illustrations interspersed with photo's of Jean.
Kingfisher puts out a book called CATS which covers the evolution,
history, breeds, and behavior as well as, cat care. Great pictures and
well done, Good info.

I'm not sure about books, but do have the kids visit

books in the series. Go to
