The change to November seems to be good for some states and not for others. In NJ 
we have: Teachers Convention (a 4 day weekend when all school have Thurs. and Fri. 
off), 
elections (some schools are polling places), 
Veterans Day holiday, 
report cards, 
2 days of parent conferences (afternoon and evening with a 4 hour session for kids 
both days)  
Thanksgiving 
Our state school library organization, NJASL, also has had their Fall conference in 
November.
 
 So many librarians have a difficult time scheduling Childrens' Book Week 
activities. For many, their schools don't even have a full week when both the kids 
and the librarian are in the building every day.
