[LM_NET] OT: Selling items made w/ copyright patterns

Dear LM_NET community,
I made hand-smocked clothing for my children when they
were little.  Now I am starting to for my first grand
child.  My daughter thinks I should make them to sell
as well.  With sites such as Etsy, it is so much
easier to market hand made, heirloom quality clothing
today.  My question is, when I buy a smocking plate
(that is a pattern for a smocked design), does that
give me the right to advertise and sell clothing made
using that design?  Pictures would be of the finished
clothing, not the designer's picture.
