Greetings!
Join YALSA on January 14 for the biggest awards in young
adult literature-the Alex, Edwards, Odyssey, and Printz
at the Youth Media Awards at Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia.
ALA now offers several ways for you to find out the winners
of YALSA's awards as soon as they're named on Monday morning:
In Person. If you're at the Midwinter Meeting in
Philadelphia, come to Pennsylvania Convention Center Ballroom B
for the Youth Media Awards Press Conference to see the
winners announced live! The program begins at 7:45 a.m. EST
with the winners of the Alex Awards, the top ten adult novels
with teen appeal; later in the morning, YALSA President Paula
Brehm-Heeger will announce the winner of the Michael L. Printz
Award and honor books for general excellence in young adult
literature, the winner of the Margaret A. Edwards Award
for lifetime contribution to literature for teens, and ALSC
President Jane B. Marino will announce the winner of the very
first Odyssey Award for the best audiobook produced for
children and young adults.
Via a Live Webcast. Can't make it to Philadelphia or
the awards announcement? Watch it online! Beginning at
7:45 a.m. EST on January 14, you can log in to the live
webcast-but tune in early, as only a limited number of
viewers can get in. The webcast is located at
www.unikron.com/clients/ala-webcast-2008.
On Your Cell Phone. Find out this year's winners from
a text message sent to your cell phone or wireless device
as soon as they're announced! To find out the winners of the
Newbery Medal, Caldecott Medal, Coretta Scott King Awards,
the Printz Award, and the Pura Belpre Award, text the word
"ALA 5" to 32075 in the U.S. or Canada, one message per award.
For all thirteen, text the word "ALA 13" to 32075. For
complete details and disclaimers on the Awards Text Messaging
service, please visit
