I've been asked to present the Big6 to 6th graders with the culminating
activity being a report/paper that traces a food from its origins to our
table. For example, if the student selects tortillas then s/he will have to
find the ingredients, then "backwards trace" the food from its completed
form back to its "roots."
She's very excited about the unit and I'm excited about introducing Big6
(which I am quite comfortable doing) but I could use some ideas about the
culminating project and how to get students started with their research:
websites, books, etc. I'd love to hear your ideas on the best way to present
Big6 with this in mind as well and I'll post a HIT of responses. TIA!
