If I wanted to dispose of an American flag and didn't know the proper way 
(which I do.), I would take it to an organization such as the American 
Legion for disposal by people who care about that issue. Similarly, I would 
take a religious book to a mosque, synagogue or church and ask them to 
either dispose of it or share guidelines. Does this help?
