we have teachers that move between buildings
We cleaned up our faculty and staff ID's so that each
member has it's own idea.
SC is one of the few states that has given us a SIF
agent - which automatically populates our systems
using these agents. You can't have duplicate faculty
and staff ID's.
As far as the barcodes go -- we do allow interlibrary
loan and as I indicated -- you need to be aware of
what system you have and what system you are moving
to. So perhaps I was not completely clear --
1. The system we moved to actually appended the
barcode and wrote it back to the software -- you did
not see this -- so when we moved to the new system -
-- the barcode that was on the book -- did not scan
correctly. -- it actually was different that the
barcode on the book -- in the old system you could not
telol that...
2. I have found after 7 years of running different
centralized systems -- the more cleanup the better for
everything.
3. Currently Destiny operates more like a distributed
system -- I cam from a true centralized system and the
barcodes had to be unique.
4. I hope that Follett makes this a true centralized
system. For those who moved to Destiny from a true
centralized system it is a pain to manage.
We like Destiny -- but coming from a central system it
is more difficult to do some of the things we could do
in our centralized system
