Subject: [LM_NET] SHARE: Ideas for Arts & Humanities Month (Oct.)

I've always wanted to do some sort of adult created art display in the
library and noticed in "Library Sparks" that October is NATIONAL ARTS & HUMANITIES
MONTH. I'm planning on asking our faculty and staff to bring in any arts &
crafts or hobbies they do, place them on display and see if people can guess who
did them. I thought I'd leave the display up for about a week before putting
namecards on them and then have them up another week with the name and/or
picture of the person as well.

Of course some may already have names written on them, but maybe I'll be able
to cover them up. I'm planning on including any musically talented folks who
might be able to get me a copy of something they've played or sang. I could
have their music playing in the background or have listening stations set up.
I think we would all be surprised at some of the talented people we have on
the staff.

I know on our staff we have people who have sang in local restaurants as an
evening job, quilt, embroider, crochet, cross-stitch, draw, do photography, etc.

Anyone done something similar? I'm in a Pre-K through 3rd grade school and
think our kids would really get a kick out of what their teachers can
do...outside of school! Ha...

Best wishes,
