Here are some great suggestions for movies dealing with bullying! Thanks for these
wonderful suggestions!
Toby
How about Odd Girl Out. It's based on a non-fiction book by Rachel Simmons but
it's a dramatic version of the book. The Lifetime movie is on DVD with the girl
from Spy Kids (Alexa Vega). Based on the book by Rachel Simmons, it’s a great
story about dealing with the pressures of high school, cyberbulling and verbal abuse
3 films come to mind. The first is Angus, which is based on Chris Crutcher's
short story. Here's more info on that: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112368/
The other is called Bully; it's more adult but really good.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0242193/
And if you want to go real young and basic, there's The Ant Bully,
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0429589/
Invisible Shadow by Roz Monette deals with bullying. It's a book, not a video.
Bang, Bang You're Dead is a movie I never heard of, so I'm guessing it's an indie.
It really gets inside what the bullied feel. Just a bit "oh sure!" at the end when
the bullies are suddenly realizing the error of their ways--but the powerhouse
performance by Ben Foster makes up for that. I just want to agree with Bang, Bang
You're Dead.
I really loved this
movie -- and it focuses on the potential for
school violence.
The oldie School Ties (??) Brenden Frasier as the only Jew in a high society New
England school on football scholarship in the 50's works pretty well too. Early
performances by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck when they were just pups.
