[LM_NET] MIDDLE: Tom Clancy-ish for 8th grader

Hi All,

I have an 8th grader who LOVES Tom Clancy, especially Splinter Cell,  but whose 
parents are uncomfortable with swearing -- so he's not allowed to read  them. He 
originally asked for titles by a Christian author, which we don't have. He's 
allowed to read Lord of the Rings, and really liked those books, but said that he's 
not allowed to read Eargon or Inkspell, or anything along those lines. 

So, do you know of any Tom Clancy type authors who are heavy on suspense and  
"special ops" type plots, but appropriate for a family who is very strict about 
content and language?
