[LM_NET] What is a Wiki and how can it benefit me as a media specialist?

Hello everyone,
 
First of all I wanted to let you know that this is my 3rd attempt to send this. I 
keep having it rejected for various reasons. I am hopeful that three times is a 
charm!
 
This is also my first time posting here.
 
I am in a class for MLS and I am supposed to watch the list serv for 5 days and 
then ask a question that hopefully people will answer. I must then compile a paper 
based on my findings. I have been watching and I
keep reading about reference to Wiki and I have NO CLUE as to what that is or how 
it could help me when I am a future librarian. I would like to be a school 
librarian/media specialist. So my question is
simply.....What is a Wiki and how can it benefit me as a media specialist? Thanks
