Hi,
Grade 7 English teachers are considering buying Townsend Press classics.
I'm afraid that these 'easier versions' won't be high quality.
The classrooms have a range of readers--special ed to gifted.
Any opinions?
Thanks.

If you are refering to the Townsend Bluford series, I can state that
never have I seen a series so openly read by kids of all reading
levels. I am a librarian at a 7-8 Disciplinary school and a choice
high school (kids come here becase they are not succeeding at home
campus..attendance issues, teen parents).
All of the students are reading these books. I read the first
chapter of The gun to the middle schoolers the day before I began my
RIF program. There were enough Townsend books for each child to have
one. And with a few exceptions, most all of the kids chose the
Townsend Books.
On the high school level, about 75 percent of the students chose the books.
I work in an inner city low socio-econonic area.
Hope this helps
